MAMA KIOTA TEACHES WOMEN TO THINK NEW THOUGHTS

As July ended, I completed my 40-minute documentary about Saïda Oumul Khairy Niasse, the charismatic leader of a Sufi Muslim women’s movement with over 200,000 members in Niger. Her Jamiyat Nassirat Dine association has branches in 7 West African countries. It fosters education for women and girls, promotes poverty alleviation, and advocates peace and religious tolerance among Muslims and between Muslims and non- Muslims.
